Privacy notice
Last updated: TODO — set the publication date
This notice explains what personal information Bramble Hill Nursery collects, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.
SPECIALIST ADVICE NEEDED — You care for or work with children. That brings obligations a generic notice cannot cover: children's personal data attracts stronger protection, you will hold safeguarding records, and if you are Ofsted registered you have retention rules set by the EYFS framework rather than by choice. Do not publish a generic privacy notice — have one written for an early years or education setting.
TODO — set the retention periods below, name your suppliers, and read this through before it goes live.
Who we are
Bramble Hill Nursery is the data controller for the information described here — we decide what is collected and why. Our contact details are at the foot of every page.
What we collect
When you contact us
Our enquiry form asks for your name, email address, postcode and a message. A phone number is optional. We collect what you type and nothing more.
When we do work for you
We keep a record of the work, your address, what was done and when, and the payments made. Some of this we are required to keep for tax and, where it applies, for safety or certification records.
Automatically
Our web host keeps standard access logs — pages requested, timestamps and the IP address of the request — so the site can be kept running and secure.
Why we collect it, and our lawful basis
The marketing tick box on our form is separate from sending your enquiry and is never pre-ticked. You can contact us without agreeing to anything else.
How long we keep it
TODO — decide these. Common starting points, but they are your decision and some may be set for you by law or by a certification scheme: enquiries that do not become jobs, 12 months; customer and job records, 6 years after the last job (matching the limitation period and HMRC requirements); safety or installation certificates, for the period your scheme requires; website logs, 30 days.
When a period ends, the information is deleted.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.
- Our website host — TODO — name them
- Our email provider — TODO — name them
- Our accountant and payment provider — TODO — name them, or delete this line if not applicable
We may also share information where the law requires it.
Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict what we do with it, or stop using it where we rely on legitimate interests. You can withdraw consent to marketing at any time. There is no charge and we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy
Please tell us first so we can put it right. If you are still not satisfied you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
